Can I tell you how much I love these people of mine? It’s like, a lot.
The weeks leading up to family pictures are stressful, right?! Choosing outfits, arranging schedules, and thinking of how we’re going to bribe the kids to cooperate is… like whoa. Do we really want to put ourselves through this?
But yes. The answer is always yes!
We weren’t quite as put-together as it may seem. We rushed downtown after getting Noah out of school a bit early. I may have cursed under my breath as I parallel parked, and then I dressed the kids in the car. I broke out into a sweat trying to fix the girl’s hair in the bathroom at Union Station. I realized that the girls and I didn’t get a chance to paint our nails that day (one of our favorite things!). Casey scrambled to leave work early and met us there. When Sarah arrived, we had a pretty awesome 20 minutes and then the kids mostly fell apart for the next hour. Family photos in a nutshell, right?!
But we did it! And despite our imperfections, I am in love (obsessed!) with the photos. Do you SEE Penny in these?! And the ones of the three of them together?! I die.
I love photographing families, but it is fun to be on the other side. Sarah was amazing. She was wonderful to work with and she did such a good job with our kids. In the past, I’ve used friends or family to “hold the camera and take our picture” after I set up my camera settings and hope for the best. And sometimes we get lucky! But letting someone else do the work and trusting their style and their talent is SO refreshing. I loved every minute and can’t recommend Sarah enough.
We took these at Union Station in Denver, a favorite spot of mine. I love to photograph families there too. Denver is home, and I feel so lucky to be raising our kids in this city we love so much.
Thank you Sarah, for these cherished photos of us.
