I am excited to start a new series about our favorite things to do in Denver, beginning with the darling and delicious Hammond’s Candy Factory. It was the perfect activity on a cold day in February just before Valentine’s Day. They offer a complimentary tour that includes a historic video and a look behind the scenes. My girls loved it, and we had the best time with my mom, my sister Janelle, and her husband Jeremy (due with their first baby any day now!). Noah has been before, but he was at school this time – we missed him!!
Hammond’s is famous for their candy canes, ribbon candy, and lollipops, which are pulled, twisted, and shaped by hand – just like they were in 1920. It is so cool to watch. After the tour, you get to sample some of their “oops” candy and visit the shop. Even the broken candy canes are amazing. 😉 My girls got to pick one treat in the shop, which was not an easy choice, but they finally went for the cotton candy (I snuck a few bites and it was everything cotton candy should be). My favorites are the flat taffy, the Mitchell’s Sweet (marshmallow and caramel!), and the chocolate bars. I’m not even much of a candy person, but when I come here, I want EVERYTHING. We picked up some Valentine’s candy for teachers and friends, and I regret not getting more for myself. Ha! This is a MUST if you’re in Denver! Their candies are sold around the world… if you aren’t in Denver and you find some, buy some. Trust me. Hashtag not sponsored… we just really love it! 🙂 Happy love month!
